OLIMPIA, 2021
A tableau consisting of the collected eyes from the people who have looked at it in the past and who look at it in the present.
Olimpia is inspired by E.T.A Hoffmann’s short story The Sandman from 1816, in which the protagonist falls madly in love with the beautiful Olimpia, who turns out to be a lifelike mechanical doll, which drives him to madness.
Technology is here utilized as much as it is criticized, through the examination of feelings related to its usage and dependency. A subversive way to question the act of viewing since inevitably, by observing the artwork, one becomes part of it.
