An experiment with three.js for the “Sense your city” competition. The web-application visualizes live-streamed environmental data from the Datacanvas sensor network. Depending on the chosen parameters, the user can produce readable data sculptures or pure data-dada. As default-textures I used emojis, nowadays common language. I wanted to explore if they can make sense in this context and if they could be transformed into something beautiful. In a future version I would like to add the possibility to change textures and their behavior in order to be able to create more diverse and meaningful images.
This project allowed me to discover three.js and json. I also enjoyed to create an own tool, as a starting point to escape the boundaries of readymade software.
(Modern browser required. Currently working with cached data since the sensor network is not running anymore)
